Cricket all the way

I truly believe that you cannot take cricket out of an Indian's blood. And I am no different.I have been a Cricket freak all my life(I don't know if this madness continues even after when the God(Sachin Tendulkar) retires. But for the time being what every Indian wants to know is why does the Indian team continues to fail in ICC tournaments. The reasons are far too many. One of the most important reasons is that of attitude. No matter how much talented and god-gifted we are, when it comes to that ruthless attitude that you require to excel at the highest level,we indians lack it.We still have a long way to go in developing that ruthless attitude.Yes we have played some extraordinary cricket over the last few years in different bilateral series. We are the top Test side and and 3rd ranked ODI team in the world.A lot of people may say that T20 is not the real test of a cricketer's abilities but when u go out to play in any format you don't like to lose. When I say that we lack that ruthless Attitude,it doesn't mean that the players don't take the field with the mindset of winning. What I am trying to point out is that we need to be more flexible adaptable and to a large extent consistent.

Another reason for our continuous inability to be a consistent team is that of flexibility. One example of that would be playing Ravindra Jadeja again against the west indies after his dismal performance against Australia. It was sheer arrogance of our captain cool to gamble with Jadeja when it was a do or die match against the West Indians.Having said that we need to acknowledge the fact that we don't have many options when it comes to handing over this high pressure job of captaincy.I still feel Mahendra Singh Dhoni is our best and safest bet.As an individual I think that a captain is as good as his team and not the other way round.
Another reason of our continuous underperformances would be of not getting used to the short ball which has become one of our menace in all forms of the game.In the days to come we will see more & more teams using that ploy against the Indian batsmen. This is where we have to act swiftly and find ways of tackling the short ball.Vivian richards has tried to lend a helping hand to the Indian batsmen in handling the short stuff but rather than thinking about cricketing issues most of the cricket management is busy bickering and squabbling over Lalit modi's antics. Its high time we started concentrating on cricket rather than discussing politics in cricket.

Lastly where we let down ourselves is team selection.A lot of you will agree of a trend in the Indian team selection. The trend that i am talking about is that of more players coming from the zone of the head of the selection committte.Or in one word we can call it regionalism. In desi terms its shetravaad. Its shameful to see that players are being selected on the basis of the state teams they represent rather than merit.Surely if we can recognise the merit and talent of our players in a more respectful manner by giving proper chance to everybody irrespective of the regions they represent we would be a better cricketing nation.

boredom

It's been half a month since I left college and still figuring out how to spend these holidays in a fruitful and constructive way.so my friend suggested me about this new time killing activity called blogging(not so fruitful and constructive)and here I am as a complete novice trying to write anything that could make sense.
